My Spitfire Dream

About

Featuring Ray Johnson as Reginald Mitchell with Virginia Johnson as Florence this presentation recounts the incredible story of Mitchell in his own words and rare film footage. It's June 1937. Reginald Mitchell is on his final journey in his battle against cancer. He is struggling to write his last letter to his son Gordon. His wife Florence is with him. His supreme achievement - the Spitfire - is now in production and proving its worth as a possible war looms ahead. His final aircraft design is for a giant delta-wing four engine bomber - will the government go with it, or is it "too advanced for them" in his own words. Free, 2pm.
